Welcome to realdoctorstories.com!
Chicago Med, ER, Chicago Hope, Night Shift, Code Black. These are all popular TV medical shows telling stories about doctors, nurses, patients, etc. They get big time, prime time audience attention.
But, the stories are fiction.
Realdoctorstories.com was created by Dennis Angellis, MD to give you insights into what it was like to be a doctor in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Since 2000, the doctors in the US have fashioned multiple “silos” in which they practice. For example, a Primary Care Physician rarely goes to a hospital or an emergency room and has little hospital and ER experiences. A Hospitalist rarely sees patients in an office setting and has little outpatient experiences. Specialists have equally fragmented their practices into inpatient and outpatient. This significantly reduces the opportunity for todays physicians to have the type of experiences “real” physicians had in the past
realdoctorstories.com is akin to an online book. You can read it for free. You don’t need a Kindle. The stories on this website are all absolutely true!
